Variations
- I used Protein-packed whole grain pancake mix. Have not tried regular pancake mix for the savory.
- You can use other vegetables like grated carrot, beet for a red color pancake.
- You can add buttermilk for water.

If you don’t like to have something sweet in the morning, then you can try savory pancakes. To make it healthy I used vegetables and turmeric.
What is golden vegetable pancakes?
Since turmeric contains vibrant yellow-orange color it is named a golden spice. This pancake contains turmeric and hence called golden pancakes and with vegetables, it is Golden vegetable pancakes.
Can I use my own pancake mix?
Yes, you can make your own pancake mix. For a healthy version try whole wheat flour. I have used a homemade pancake mix in this recipe.
Preparing savory pancake
Prep work for pancake takes a few minutes. Grating the zucchini and chopping the bell peppers. If you don’t want green chili, add black pepper powder which will be a perfect match with turmeric spice.
If you are having an electric griddle then it’s a breeze. You can prepare 10 pancakes at a time. You’ll be done quickly. Even if you have a big skillet you can do 3 at a time.
How to serve savory pancakes?
You can serve with some sautéed vegetables on top and drizzle with tomato ketchup or any spicy sauce to go with this savory pancake.

Ingredients
- 1 cup pancake mix
- 1/2 cup mixed color bellpeppers chopped
- 1/2 cup zucchini grated
- 1 green chily chopped
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 3/4 cup water
- salt to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl mix pancake mix, color peppers, zucchini, chili, turmeric, and salt to taste.
- Combine well. Add 1/2 cup of water on start and slowly add more to reach the consistency.
- Cook until the surface of pancakes have some bubbles and flip carefully with a spatula, and cook until browned on the underside, 1 to 2 minutes more.
- Serve warm, with desired toppings.
